Josef Müller-Brockmann
A friend told me about Josef Müller-Brockmann, a Swiss graphic designer. He is called one of the most important graphic designers of the twentieth century. I found some of his poster and works and I liked them very much. Clear, elegant and highly communicative but also true graphic design. It appeared to me that I wasn’t the only one who liked him — he inspires and is quite a hero for contemparary graphic designers. Soon after I found a copy of his Grid Systems in Graphic Design and started reading it. (Why not learn from the best?) The book which is written in German and English offers a clear approach of graphic design using a so called grid system. I would say the way you want it to be explained. As Müller says in Grid Systems:
[...] with the aid of the grid system, he is better fitted to find a solution to his design problems which is functional, logical and also more aesthetically pleasing.
What more can a graphic designer ask for. As you might know I am not a graphic designer, but with Müller at my side I feel like I am a bit more capable. One thing however makes me wonder, why did my friend told me about Müller after having showed him my portfolio.
So enough words, see yourself:
