Although the end is remains vague to me, its great to see an animation of this quality is being made with free/open source software. Oh and with some help of a Dutch cultural subsidy: that is the whole Dutch nation including my father, brother, uncles, and perhaps also you if you happen to be Dutch and are reading this.

Nadat je Beginnen met Git hebt gelezen en natuurlijk direct Git hebt geïnstalleerd is het tijd om te gaan hacken. In dit artikel een overzicht van basishandelingen in Git. Hoewel er zowel voor Windows, OS X als voor Linux een GUI beschikbaar is heeft heeft het mijn voorkeur om te werken in de terminal. Ik ben van mening dat dit bijdraagt aan het begrip van Git; het helpt volgens mij om een correct mental model te vormen. Alle beschreven handelingen bestaan uit een titel, de Git commando’s en een beknopte uitleg.
Als je Windows gebruikt en je hebt bijvoorbeeld msysGit geïnstalleerd start dan Git Bash. Met OS X open je simpelweg een terminal-venster (Programma’s > Hulpprogramma’s > Terminal). Als je Linux gebruikt dan weet je de terminal vast en zeker te vinden.
Git stelt het op prijs als je jezelf eenmalig voorstelt. Git kan zo alle commits traceren.

Yesterday I bumped into presentation by Lev Manovich. After having seen our national soccer team win of Denmark (with some luck), I was in the same place where he was about to make his appearance. Ignorant as I am occasionally, I didn’t know at all what Manovich was doing. So some time before his presentation I asked some of the more academic folks at SETUP Utrecht what to expect. Since I couldn’t really form a mental image of a media theorist. I was told he wrote a classic book called The Language of New Media and he uses large datasets to analyse culture. Enough to get me interested. Here are my very non-academic observations (watch SETUP for a more academic article) of Manovic’s presentation. Which not only turned out to be a ‘very acceptable’ presentation but highly thought provocative as well.
